Monolithos
back

Monolithos - an interactive public workshop has the intent to create a communal handprint tablet, where each individual fingerprint becomes a decorative pattern of intricate texture, as found on human prehistoric pottery. This workshop was conceived as a provocative response to the idea of totalitarian Electronic Police State with new means of social control practiced by modern governments, which commonly increase mass surveillance and introduce mandatory fingerprinting of their citizens as a “necessary and justified” protection from dangerous terrorists, criminals, or political subversives.
